For additional crops to be included in COMET (as of 2023), the crop needs to at least be parameterized in DayCent. Then, there will also need to be field scale observation across multiple studies/sites to inform things like productivity, carbon allocation, C:N ratios, yields, etc, as well as studies looking at soil carbon changes or soil nitrous oxide emissions in these systems. On top of that, crops for COMET-Farm must comply with the USDA Entity-Scale GHG methods guidance and go through approvals with USDA.
