COMET-Farm projects can be exported (only if the report has been generated) from the platform to an email address or the local drive. This could be of use if a user wished to make a copy of their project or sharing a project with another user.
- To export a project, users must have generated a report within COMET-Farm.
- An exported project will arrive in your email from info@comet-farm.com
- The project file will be .cmt.
- You will only be able to view that project file within COMET-Farm by following the import project steps below.
- Once a project is exported, the project remaining in the account can still be modified, though the exported project will remain the same (it is not like a Google Doc, where multiple users can work on the same project across accounts).
- Only projects with Cropland, pasture, range, orchard/vineyard AND/OR animal ag accounting activities can be exported/imported.
- While you can select multiple projects to export, you would need to separate those projects prior to uploading, so we would recommend only exporting ONE project at a time.
COMET-Farm allows users to import other projects into their account using .cmt (or xml) files. To import a project into an account, click the Import Project button at the bottom of the page and select the file to import. Errors with importing are likely due to a mismatched file type. COMET-Farm will only accept .cmt or xml files. Excel spreadsheets or .csv files cannot be imported into the tool. You can practice importing using the attached .cmt file.
- Projects imported to COMET-Farm must be the .cmt files that were exported from COMET-Farm.
- Users are not able to import any projects from other platforms
- If you are trying to import an API input file, please review the API related help article and/or use the contact us section of the need help widget, and reach out the COMET-Team for assistance.
